This is a terrific article, very insightful. And, this is a problem, not only with regions, but with virtually every different wine topic. That's why I put together the wine blog search engine at alawine, so people (and wine bloggers) could pull together all of the dispersed blogger information on a given topic in one place.
As far as your regional issue (and I realize this is not exactly what you're talking about), but vinography lists wine blogs in about ten different languages, and presumably some of them are more focused in those areas.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your wine atlas; I think it's a great idea. BTW, here's a new site I just learned about
