    Cheers,

As another Portuguese blogger, I'm extremely proud to see wine lovers from around the world enjoying Portuguese wine. I believe Portugal is a hidden treasure to the rest of the world. We've been slow in marketing our goodies, but the tide is changing now, thanks to the new breed of entrepreneurs that are coming out of Portugal, like the crew from Adegga.com.

And on a different note - the wine I reviewed Outono de Santar 2003 should link to the following page <a href="<a href="http://www.algarvebuzz.com/portuguese-wine-vinho-fall-season-56

A superb round-up and get use of the google map. Must have taken you hours to compile everything!

The theme is also one I think we should return too soon.
  • Erika Strum · 2 years ago
Very cool map! Thanks for giving us something a little extra this month. It looks like it certainly required a lot of work.
  • Bob Gregg · 2 years ago
Outstanding mash-up map, guys! That's very nice, and really helps understand the breadth of what was covered. What a great idea!

Gracias de nuevo-- you guys have raised the bar-- visual aids

are way cool and help give both participants & audience a great sense of context, & potential impact! A no-brainer, in retrospect, but it took your two very focused brains to come up with the one practical app that brought multiple pertinent factors together

economically & aesthetiacally-- did I thank you yet??

I am way too late; I had the date wrong from the beginning. But I tasted two wines, one from the Alentejo (Dignitas Reserva 2001; a Dignitas 2003 is mentioned by another blogger) and one from the Douro: Johnny Graham's Meio Queijo, made especially for the Dutch market. So for those of you who want to still read more on Portuguese table wines: see <a href="http://wijnlog.blogspot.com/2007/10/too-late-wine..."><a href="http://wijnlog.blogspot.com/2007/10/too-...

I just ran across your Portuguese table wine tasting and would like to congratulate you on your terrific summary. Reading your summary I was so disappointed I didn't know about your Portuguese tastings earlier as I have extensive experience tasting Portuguese wines. In fact my co-publisher and I have written two reports for our subscribers on more than 200 Portuguese table wines. Our first report was in January 2006 as is called "Red Table Wines of Portugal" and the second in June 2007 entitled " Red Wines of Portugal: The Douro Boys and Barca Velha" We have also conducted monthly tastings of red and white Portuguese wines since then and reported on those as well on <a href="<a href="http://www.i-winereview.com " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.i-winereview.com "><a href="http://www.i-winereview.com " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.i-winereview.com

Since we missed the opportunity to participate I would be happy to provide an online complimentary copy of both reports to all the bloggers who are interested. They can either write me for the copies or I would be happy to post them on your site, if that is feasible and permissible.

Thanks for your work on Portuguese wines. It is an exciting region filled with wonderful wines that are still below the radar screen of most wine enthusiasts!!

    Mike,

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We honestly wanted to create a new format, something that would go beyond a simple summary to allow a little creative exploration. Please know, however, that although you could not participate, we are always open to additional thoughts and comments on the topic. Your offer to give bloggers your report is very appreciative and will, I'm sure, offer another perspective as to the variety and quality of Portuguese table wine. Thanks!

This is a great round up. We were fortunate enough to discover an incredible range of Portuguese wines at a tasting in Lisbon (pure luck!) and were star struck. Wonderful wines at very decent prices. Unfortunately there is only that much you can carry back by plane (to Belgium that is)

And I fully agree that Portuguese wines could benefit from promotion outside Portugal. Perhaps an idea for their current EU presidency? :)
