My first suggestion is to open it and see what happens. If your noise coils into your head, I'd suggest it for cooking. If, however, it is an oxidized sherry like an Oloroso or PX, you might be saved. For all you know, you may have a VORS in your liquor cabinet, standing for a Very Old Rare Sherry, or a VOS, Very Old Sherry. If this is the case, you might be in luck as they can age for decades. We will be talking about VOS and VORS sherries in the coming weeks.
