I must confess that I haven't tried it due to my prejudices.

Maybe because I'm a sherry fanatic and this unnatural mixings. But I'll have to try it.

I'll admit I am also biased against cream sherry. I took a wine class once and cream sherry was the only example of a sherry and I nearly fell off my stool, since I am a big fan of amontillados and olorosos. But I will look for this once. And YES, more people should get turned onto sherry! It's not just for grandmas.

Also- on the sherry is from Spain only topic... Do you think the same thing about Port wine? This seems to me to be the most widely broken in terms of appellations. I see 'ports' from California, South Africa, and Australia all the time. And I wonder if the Portuguese port wine makers- or the Instituto do Porto are doing anything about it. They should, in my opinion.

I don't care much for wine but someone gave me some delicate cream sherry(Wisdom & Water) so I just had to find a use. My favorite drink these days is 151 rum with redbull. So. of course i had to mix them. I was pleasantly surprised..for anyone who like a change...

Interestingly Dawn, there are several cocktails worth checking out with sherry, such as Amontillado with a splash of cassis (recently learned this one from a student in our Sherry Educators class who swears by it), Fino with a splash of soda water and a slice of lime, or even a touch of bailys with PX. AND...there is a competition being held tomorrow in Jerez for a group of Danish culinary students to come up with the tastiest sherry cocktail. We've been promised the winning recipes, so stay tuned!
