These types of experiences make you remember why you rarely go to fine-dining places around here........please will someplace out there stand out and be the hero?!
I'm sure you've tried them before but we liked Comerç24 and Cinc Sentits when we ate at them. Cinc Sentits especially (and we ate there before they got their Michelin*)
Having been fortunate enough to dine at several Michelin starred restaurants in France, including one ** that's been in the book since 1900, I must generally agree with your perception (and Andrea's) regarding the overall experience. Stuffy and overbearing service is a common theme. Granted, how often are you served lobster carved and shaped to look like a sea horse? The only such dining experience we've enjoyed was in Collioure at La Neptune. We ate out on their deck overlooking the harbor and it was wonderful. First time I ever had grilled fish with veal reduction. An ephiphany! Although I was scolded by the waiter for trying to pour Tami a glass of wine. :-)
Glad you enjoyed your birthday. You both look mahvelous!

Glad you got there in the end. That really stinks about the smoke. Pun intended. I know how you feel about about the michelin experience. Trent and I go now and then to michelin restaurants and it's really hit and miss. I think the experience can totally vary from day to day pending on who's serving you, seasonal ingredients and the atmosphere. Don't give up on them yet...when you get it right you have a night that you will remember for a long time. Ours is the Waterside Inn in Bray...ahhhhhh....
Glad you enjoyed.
