Ana, you are very welcome! We try at Catavino to profile people we respect and who do good work. Your father falls in this category, and if we can support him in promoting Portuguese wines made with love and passion, we're happy to do so.

And Ana...thanks for commenting on our site. It means the world to us.

Great post, Gabriella. Very interesting, and I would agree that Portugal should emphasize their difference, rather than just chucking cab in everything. However, this makes tastings and journalism coverage imperative. I just listened to an interesting podcast that featured Kim Marcus from Wine Spectator talking about the great Portuguese table wines (the Splendid Table podcast). If Portuguese wines are making it onto public radio shows, then they are about to break into mainstream US consciousness, I think.

    Dear Dr. Debs

I am very glad to see that we agree about the difference of portuguese wines. For me, its very nice to see that people around the world already know the personality of our wines. Aniway, is important that we can pass this idea to all the wine lovers, and the best way is of course to try to make a good publicity, in the right means of comunication, and also thrue the right persons. One of my spectations is to pass this information. The interview here at catavino, made by Gabriella was the first time i have ever seen someone so interested in portuguese wines. They are making an excelent job, and i´ve had the oportunity to thanks Gabriella for is attention to me, and for wines of portugal. Lets hope that we can help this hard task, and for us in Vinixá, is an honour to make part of this world, and most of all to have been posted at this wonderfull site.
