    Great theme. I think the only grape I've tried is Malvasia, so this will be great fun and a great learning experience, too. Thanks for the map and all the additional information.

    I have really enjoyed all of the Bierzo's I've tried, which is three and counting. I'm thinking mixed grill (beef, lamb, pork) to explore the Mencia grapes' affinities.



    Hope you manage to land a few Bierzo's for your efforts!

    Well I'm pretty sure you've had Granacha tintorrera, Also known as Alicante Bouschet, it is the base for so many California jug wines. Hearty Burgundy, Rosso, and many more! Dark skinned grape that adds color to many california reds where they are only required to have between 75-85% of the primary grape to call it a "monovarietal". Thus your inky cabernets, often find a bit in them. Just don't tell anyone! ;)
