I've had the pleasure of meeting Gary several times in person and even dining with his family. He's honest, genuine, and really seems to care about what you're doing. And I'm proud to consider him a friend.

I got to give it Gary for his passion and drive, however, watching him everyday might requiring a bit more espresso.
I think you make some great points on Portugal' s inability to successfully market their wines. They have a great product and perhaps need some help in marketing them.
Keep up the good work

I dont think its the "chance of a lifetime" - we're talking 30 year careers here - however, its probably the biggest Portugal specific shift in a decade, so not to be passed over lightly. Lets get down to specifics here, and Ryan, you do a good job of that above, to connect with the GV crowd the producers need to embrace social media.
This is bigger than one person, this is people sharing information, directly, with each other. The milenials are a larger group than the baby boomers, and are drinking even more wine as they shift away from spirits and cheap beers. You've tens of millions of people who grew up using a computer (even the oldest milenials are just turning 30 now). As these people do everything online, and in the open, its clear that they deal with wine in the same way.
I feel like a broken record saying this now, but wineries need to empower their existing base of hard core evangelists to have the freedom and materials to market their product by weaving it into their daily actions online.
Chance of a lifetime? Maybe... Maybe not.. We will not know that in yet some year's, but can they gamble on that?
Phillip, we're on the same page, as you know. I really hope that Catavino and sites like Snooth and Adegga might be able to wake some of the wineries in Portugal up enough to do something different.
Philip and JIKVIG I do think that this is once in a lifetime, at least in this way. Gary loves Portugal, and I'm scared to think of what might happen if he then falls in love with Chile, before Portugal awakes....
Anyways, I really hope that you are right, that Catavino, WLTV, Snooth and everybody else writing and speaking about them, are able to wake wineries in Portugal to Wine 2.0!
